As a consultant for more than 30 years, James Collins has evaluated thousands of buildings, including private homes, offices, commercial buildings, and industrial complexes. He recommends and designs structural repairs, mechanical modifications, energy improvements and historical restoration.Mr. Collins has also designed and supervised the construction of new custom residences, commercial spaces including restaurants, recording studios and offices.
Architectural Renovation of Knuessl Building, Ottawa, IL. This is a four-story commercial building originally constructed in 1865.
**Mr. Collins was responsible for getting the Knuessl Building officially listed on the National Register of Historic Sites.
Mr. Collins is one of the few architects who have been qualified to join the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers. The academy is a professional association of licensed engineers who specialize in building inspection engineering. Through his work, he bas become familiar with building and safety codes and standards that apply in the construction industry.

With certification from the National Council Architectural Registration Board, Mr. Collins has worked with public agencies such as the HUD, Chicago Housing Authority, Chicago Public Schools and the Cook County Housing Authority. In the private sector, he has worked with insurance companies, developers and private individuals.
